Braille (Contracted Braille) (183)
The registration and scheduling deadline for the final exam administration period has passed. This exam will be administered for the last time on July 28, 2019. After this date, candidates will be required to take Braille (UEB) (283) for certification in this field.
5 hours total appointment time
- 15 minutes for CAT tutorial and compliance agreement
- 4 hours and 45 minutes testing time
CAT sites are located in Texas and nationwide.
This exam assesses test takers' ability to produce braille text from printed text using both a slate and stylus and a braillewriter.
You must bring the following
with you to the test center:
- a manual (non-electric) braillewriter that accommodates
standard 11" × 11.5" braille papera manual left paren non-electric right paren braillewriter that accommodates standard 11 inches by 11.5 inches braille paper
- a traditional (not direct) slate and stylus that accommodates
8.5" × 11.5" braille papera traditional left paren not direct right paren slate and stylus that accommodates 8.5 inches by 11.5 inches braille paper
Exams may include questions that are evaluated for future administrations and do
not affect a candidate's score.
